HW Design Engineer, Sr.


Senior Hardware Design Engineer is responsible for new product design, board level architecture, implementation, and test of digital and/or analog video/audio processing, connectivity, switching, and streaming hardware for medical device products. He/she supports Marketing during product requirements definitions mainly from the HW and technology capabilities point of view. The design work includes researching and specifying components, schematic development, PCB layout guidance, board bring-up, interfacing and collaboration with other Engineers (Firmware, FPGA, and Mechanical), and working with Product Management during product design cycles. Senior HW Design Engineer understands and plans for HW evolutionary paths as well as new technology insertion. The Senior HW Design Engineer reports to R&D Hardware, MIS.


  1. Flows product requirements and architecture concept to the HW Engineering requirements and boards/components requirements.
  2. Reviews and cooperates on customer proposals, internal product requirement documents, engineering requirement documents and work with cross-functional teams to achieve product goals.
  3. Makes sure the hardware and system architectures are in synchronization.
  4. Provides effort, time and cost estimation on various levels of granularity and confidence. Drives best practices in estimation and status reporting activities.
  5. Drives efficient and effective design reviews and recommends improvements.
  6. Assists in risk and opportunities identification, assessment and mitigation/enhancement activities associated with the software solutions.
  7. Provides support in all phases of Product Life Cycle (PLC) and ensures to deliver high-quality products on time and on schedule.
  8. Provides technical guidance in software design and development activities.
  9. Provides trainings and mentor other Engineers when needed.
  10. Helps to define Intellectual Property (IP) strategy and build IP portfolio.
  11. Supports Verification Engineers during test strategies and plan definitions.
  12. Oversees EMC/EMI and Electrical safety testing.
  13. Designs and properly documents PCBs using schematic capture systems (Orcad,..).
  14. Provides Spice or other design simulation when needed.
  15. Designs complex power supplies systems.
  16. Selects and evaluates electronic parts, components and integrated circuitry for high performance medical devices, and other related hardware items used in OR integration applications.
  17. Drives best practices in various areas of HW development.
  18. Analyzes equipment failures and conducts tests to identify point of failure. Conducts root cause analysis.
  19. May review vendor capability in support of product development and improvement
  20. Oversees proper PCB layout.
  21. Investigates, debugs and brings alive designed boards by using proper measurement equipment like (oscilloscopes, analyzers, meters).


  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, MS in Electrical Engineering is a plus.
  2. Minimum of 5 years hardware design experience.
  3. Interface with FPGA, Software and Firmware Engineers.
  4. Demonstrated successful implementation of low EMI board layout and component designs.
  5. Fluent verbal English communication and proper written technical English are a must.
